Steph unveils Third Edition, her supergroup studio with Nathan and Ben.

I have never wanted an agency.
The thought of employees is not at all appealing to me.
I'm very much a “move, get out the way” kind of creative.
I want to be the one doing the work and passing that work that feeds my soul on to someone else so I can manage them has never been a goal.
But what I do find appealing is a supergroup.
Temple of the Dog.
Audioslave.
The Raconteurs.
The Traveling Wilburys.
Rockstars in their craft coming together and bringing their own super strengths to the table.
Earlier this year I saw Nine Inch Nails, and when DJ Boys Noize dropped in to back up “Closer,” the already iconic song just hit different.
More depth. More modern. If you can believe it, “Closer” hit even harder.
So when Nine Inch Noize debuted at Coachella, bringing together Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Boys Noize, and Mariqueen Maandig, they had my attention.
Because when great creatives come together and layer their own zone of genius, 1+1 is far greater than 2.
Which got me and Ben thinking.
How can we continue to keep our foot in client work and bring more creatives together to create the ultimate design studio?
How can we create our own supergroup?
I've already got Gold Sheep Design that I run with my husband, Nathan.
And Ben's got Alden.
But what if we joined forces? What if we went full Voltron?
So that's what we're doing.
I am excited to announce that Ben, Nathan, and I are joining forces to create our own super studio, Third Edition.
And what's more exciting?
Whenever projects come along that need talent not covered by Third Edition, we'll be exclusively hiring from The Division members.
But it only gets better…
Because Third Edition isn't the only new addition.
This week Nathan will also officially become the Chief Creative Officer here at Maker Division.
After 20 years as an art director at the same company, he'll be joining us full time to help creatives build studios that create meaningful work and meaningful money.
We're lucky to have him and excited for this next phase of not just Maker Division, but Third Edition as well.
New team photo, incoming…

P.S. We've got something very special launching later this week for creatives who want more support, accountability, and proximity to me and Ben. Even more than The Division currently offers. Keep an eye on your inbox.

Now Playing
What can I say? My favorite band has a new album, so obviously it's on repeat. Favorite track is “The Dark Forest” followed very closely by “The Sickness in You & I” but if you're looking for something a little more radio friendly, might I suggest “Hush.”

Now Streaming
Widow's Bay is the next Martha's Vineyard. And it's definitely not cursed. Why? What have you heard? None of it is true. But if you're offered cocktails after sunset, politely decline. We also have no comment on the fog.

Inspiration Corner
I recently learned that many of our Division members weren't familiar with the work of Mary Blair so I tired to find the best compilation of her work that's available online to share. Unfortunately most of her work is in books but her Instagram has a large number of both personal work and work she did for Disney to check out. One of my favorites.
